Wednesday, April 28, 2004 Quick Bite: Cocoa in Larchmont A little bit of France in a cup in this shore community in Westchester County, NY. Owned and run by Angela Ingrao, Cocoa is a small and very cute shop that serves up childhood favorites such as housemade turtles with confections from Fritz Knipschildt. Also on the menu: Some of the best hot chocolate you can find on this side of the Atlantic. Type(s): Drinking Chocolate
At $3.50 a cup, Cocoa’s hot chocolate is not cheap, but it is also not nearly as expensive as some of its Parisian counterparts (to be fair, the presentation is not the same, however). The hot chocolate, which is made with organic milk, is thick (but not too), rich (but not too), chocolatey-bitter (but not too)— is, well, what hot chocolate should taste like. If you really want to splurge (and I always do), make sure to ask for one of Angela’s very fresh house-made marshmallows. Company Information:
