Monday, April 30, 2007 Chocophile.com and DiscoverChocolate.com For the past year I have been busy writing a book on chocolate. I am very happy to announce that the book is almost on its way to the printer and that it has an official publication date ... Discover Chocolate will be published on October 18th, 2007 by Gotham Books, an imprint of Penguin Books USA. 160 pages long, hardcover, and four-color throughout, Discover Chocolate is the first book to focus solely on chocolate appreciation.
The book does not contain ratings or reviews of chocolate, rather it provides a comprehensive approach to chocolate appreciation. There are many books that do this for wine and other beverages and gourmet foods, but this is the first book to do this for chocolate. There are sections on learning to taste chocolate, how to buy chocolate, and an in-depth look at how to pair chocolates with wines and other spirits.
Over the next few months, now that the writing is done, I will be moving content from chocophile.com, chocolatecritic.com, chocolateco-op.com, and newworldchocolatesociety.com to a completely new design and a new home at DiscoverChocolate.com. The new design will make it much easier to use the web site and hopefully eliminate a lot of confusion about how the sites are related. I will also be moving to a new technology platform that will give me a lot more control over look and feel and make it possible for me to fix problems with how the site works that right now I just can’t. In the meantime, I will continue to post content here on chocophile.com. Once the move to DiscoverChocolate.com is made I will figure out what to do with chocophile.com. After all, I have been publishing it since May 2001 and it’s been a big part of my life. So big that I don’t really want to just put it out to pasture and simply redirect traffic from it to discoverchocolate.com. No matter what happens with chocophile.com, you can pre-order the book today from Amazon (http://www.amazon.com), Barnes and Noble (http://www.bn.com), and other on-line outlets. If you prefer to wait, autographed copies of the book will be available some time this summer for pre-order here for shipment on October 15th. Stay tuned for details.
